Synopsis: Program #64 “The Second Amendment” January 20, 2013

With the news cycle discussing gun control, and the politicians vying for new gun control laws, the January 20th edition of God and Country Radio is about the Bible, the Second Amendment and gun control. The program begins with a look at Micah 4:3, “They shall beat their swords into plows.” Is this text an injunction for citizens and governments to follow in order to reduce violence and fulfill the goal of bringing Christ’s kingdom to earth? Does the Bible teach violence will be reduced by more guns or fewer guns? Is disarmament a Biblical mandate?

The program continues in explaining the Second Amendment and the controversies surrounding it – – to whom does it apply, the Federal Government, the States, Militias? And what is the original purpose of the Second Amendment? Finally, there is an exposition of Luke 22 where Jesus says, “Take a sword” but also, “Those who take up the sword shall perish by the sword.”
