#38 Conservative Talk Radio
Abridged Radio Program
Program #38 – Synopsis– Conservative Talk Show Hosts – January 16th 2011
This show was developed out of the frequently asked question, “what do you think of Glenn Beck” or “what do you think of Rush Limbaugh” along with the problem of some in the Christian community following conservative talk radio too religiously.
Opinions in the Christian community vary between the extremes of those who see conservative talk radio as of the devil, and those who see these voices as prophets from God. There is no doubt that God has raised up these voices, for God raises up all leaders. Even though these pundits do not speak of Christ, we find in Scripture the pattern that God raises up unsaved people, even unsaved moralists, to keep a lid on national corrupt. Jehu in 2 Kings 10 is a prime example. Other examples are given.
The program discusses in depth the fact that most conservative talk radio personalities do not base their morality upon Biblical authority but upon pragmatism and utilitarianism. This is a grave error; for the value of personal freedom is an insufficient value upon which to build a society that is morally pleasing to God.
The condemnation against the false prophets of Israel are applied to these pundits of our day (Isaiah 8:19-22 and Jeremiah 8:9). And we must remember that the Pharisees were moral conservatives, and yet Jesus said to them in Mt 23:15 that when they make a convert, then make him two fold more a child of Hell then themselves. In that these conservative voices turn to the law for the answer, they play the role of the Judiazers who Paul spoke against. (Gal 1:8-9)
One of the interesting facts in the Biblical History of Israel is that those who would be considered the conservative leaders chose the path that destroyed the nation (Jeremiah 38). Conservative values without Christ are not the answer. In fact, they can lead to a nation into the pit.
Finally, the Christian should be aware that the failure of these pundits to reference the person and work of Jesus Christ, and the salvation plan wrought through Christ is a serious neglect. All glory and honor belongs to Jesus Christ (Colossians 1:18)
