#316 Zinn’s History of Pilgrims
Abridged Radio Program
Program #316 “Zinn’s History of Pilgrims Debunked” – 11-19-2017 – Synopsis
Back in 1980, Howard Zinn, a Marxist political science professor at Boston University, wrote A People’s History of the United States. His work was the prototype of this whole new movement on the left to recast the history of America in a bad light. Rather than our forefathers being models to emulate, they are now depicted in academia as xenophobic, homophobic, racist, exploiters.
As our culture drifts further from God and our values shift to paganism, as we would expect, the Christian past is despised. While we would consider the men listed in Hebrews 11 as the heroes of the faith, the Sodomites and Canaanites would remember them as the enemy. The change in our culture’s interpretation of history is another tell-tale sign of our moral/religious apostasy.
This week’s program refutes Zinn’s negative view of the pilgrims on a number of points. I conclude with the observation that in secular relativism, values are always selectively applied to support whatever self-serving agenda is in vogue. By 2017 leftist standards, the Colonists should be heroes because they were the illegal aliens pouring into America for a better life. On the other hand, the Indians were the racists, build-the-wall Trump crowd who hated the dreamers. Such is leftist ideology; the very thing they say one day, to one group, are undermined in a few years by what they say to another group.
Have a blessed Thanksgiving.
