685 – Waiting on the Kingdom of Christ

The hymn “Joy to the World” was written by Isaac Watts.  The lyrics reflect Watt’s 17^th century postmillennialism.  When does Christ come to “rule the world with truth and grace and make the nations prove the glories of his righteousness”?  In Revelation 11, when the Seventh Angel sounds then the Kingdoms of this world will become the Kingdoms of our Lord.  In the Temptation, Jesus would not take the Kingdoms of this world until the Father’s time.  We are to follow Christ’s example.
